Biochemist from the University of Concepción and Doctor of Science with a mention in Plant Genetic Engineering, degree obtained at the University of Talca, Chile. Since then he has worked as Curator of Plant Genetic Resources at the INIA-Quilamapu Germplasm Bank in Chillán, Chile. During his scientific career he has generated nearly 25 scientific publications and directed numerous basic and applied research projects, both national and international. Among them, the FONTAGRO project stands out in the development and assessment of tomato Genetic Resources, as well as in the current FAO call for the identification and reintroduction of legumes with tolerance to drought, which contribute to food security and adaptability to climate change. Its thematic area also includes transcriptomic, physiological, biochemical and ecological studies associated with abiotic stress, as well as nutritional composition evaluations. The main crops in their work have included species of the Solanum genus, legumes, forage species and wheat, currently conserved in the genebank in Chillán.
