UACh

Oscar Thiers is a Forest Engineer from the Austral University of Chile (UACh) and PhD in Natural Resources from the University of Freiburg, Germany. He is an associate professor at the Institute of Forests and Society of the Faculty of Forest Sciences and Natural Resources of the UACh. His professional work topics are related to forest soils, site productivity and forestry in forest plantations. It has links with the universities of Freiburg and Göttingen, and the Technical University of Göttingen, in Germany. He has participated as principal investigator and co-investigator in FIA, FONDEF and Fondecyt projects. He currently works as a co-investigator in two projects associated with the production of plants and their establishment in plantations with native species (FIC project 21-07); and development and technological scaling of roble-raulí hybrids (FIA Project PYT 2021-0641), as well as the generation of a new afforestation option using roble x raulí hybrids as an alternative of high productivity and sustainable adaptation to climate change scenarios.
